Guest editor for Viva V is...

Unique among Australian writing competitions, Viva la Novella offers an editorial prize as well as a writing prize because we know how difficult it can be for editors to get their start commissioning and editing literary fiction. For the past three years we have worked with emerging editors, mentoring and supporting them as they choose a winner from submissions and bring it to the world.

We are delighted to announce Viva la Novella V’s guest editor: Genevieve Buzo. As with every year that we’ve run the editorial side of Viva, the standard of applications was very high and it was a difficult decision but we’re thrilled to have Genevieve joining the Seizure team. With experience in Australia and the States, on the agency and publishing sides of the equation, we’re excited to see what gold she uncovers from this year’s submissions.

Genevieve Buzo has been a keen reader since 1995 and got her start in publishing in New York City, interning at Writers House and working at Lippincott Massie McQuilkin Literary Agency. She is currently a junior editor at Allen & Unwin and sometimes retweets Harold Pinter quotes right here: Twitter.
