Meet Rose whose novella, The Bonobo's Dream, is one of the 2016 Viva la Novella winners.
For the record, can you state your name, place of birth and current city? Rose Mulready. Melbourne and Melbourne (I swear I left in between).
What are your favourite novellas? So many! Mrs Dalloway, The Member of the Wedding, Enderby Outside, A Candle for Saint Jude …
What attracted you to write in the novella form?
Speed. Working full time as a writer and trying to get your own writing done is a tough gig, involving cranky shoulders and hankerings for air. The novella is a snappy delight both to write and to read.
How would you describe your book?Appointment in Samarra meets Dark They Were and Golden Eyed – toxic cruelty over cocktails in a setting that seems familiar but twists slowly out of shape.
