What do you do in your day job/life? I’m a communications manager for a large stevedoring company. We move containers off the back of ships.
What’s the earliest thing you remember writing?
I wrote and illustrated a story about living in a tree house when I was little. That would have been during my Bridge to Terabithia period.
When do you like to write?
I would like to say, ‘whenever I can’, but honestly, I haven’t written anything since I finished uni two years ago. My favourite place to write is on a plane, after a glass of wine. I have a notebook I take everywhere when I travel – writing in it while flying somewhere new has become something of a ritual.
If you could brunch with anyone, who would it be?
Cate Blanchett. She seems like a rad individual. And – bonus – I just moved to Sydney, so she could give me the lowdown on what to see, where to shop, what restaurants to check out. I’m sure we’d chat about life and art and would become best friends fairly quickly.
Most important thing the Internet has taught you:
The internet has taught me that videos of cats are universally cheering to the spirit. Ooh – and that goats scream like humans. Who knew?
A quotation you have used more than once:
'So many books, so little time.' Frank Zappa
I’d like to publish my manuscript. And start writing something new. And I might buy another cat.
