Lauren Beukes

Lauren Beukes writes novels, comics, screenplays and also occasionally gets away with making documentaries, writing kids cartoons and journalism. Her novels have been translated into 26 languages including Japanese, Russian and Croatian and include The Shining Girls about a time-travelling serial killer and the survivor who turns the hunt around, which won the Strand Critics Choice Award and the University of Johannesburg Prize, Zoo City, a black magic noir set in Johannesburg that won the Arthur Clarke Award, Moxyland, set in a neo-apartheid state, and, most recently, Broken Monsters, about strange hybrid bodies turning up in Detroit. She lives in Cape Town, South Africa.
