Carly Cappielli is a Western Sydney-based writer who is passionate about contributing to the area's experimental writing scene. Carly completed her Bachelor of Communication (Writing) at Western Sydney University in 2003, where she also completed her Master of Research in 2018. She wrote Listurbia as the creative component of her thesis, as an experiment in creating a narrative out of lists.
Carly’s main inspirations for Listurbia were Joe Brainard's I Remember and George Perec's collection, Species of Spaces and Other Pieces, as well as Luke Carman's An Elegant Young Man, for its portrayal of life in Western Sydney.
Carly lives with her husband Andrew and their Golden Retriever, Biscuits. Andrew is a big supporter of experimental fiction. Biscuits is not.
