Pat Grant

Pat Grant is a renowned Melbourne cartoonist, writer and zine maker, whose work has appeared in Meanjin, Going Down Swinging, and The Lifted Brow as well as in magazines such as Australia’s Surfing LifeTracksBeat, and 3D World. Grant is the recipient of an Emerging Writers Grant from the Australia Council for the Arts, and has been publishing installments of Blue online, to critical acclaim. His comics include The Last Sharehouse and Waiting for Something to Happen. Grant is currently completing a PhD on cartooning at Macquarie University, and lives by the beach in the Illawarra.

Born and raised in Mudgee, Sam Paine works in his local area and around the central west. His pieces are characterised by fine intricate linework and bold colours. Sam works mainly in pen and wash, with an emphasis on miniatures and a preference for aged architecture. His work also reaches the opposite end of the scale, and he has led the creation of a number of public murals in Mudgee. He is the coordinator of the Cudgegong Youth Theatre and a founder of Mudgee Underground, a group bringing new unusual, interactive art events to the Mudgee region.
