What is Seizure?
Seizure is
- a new avenue for authors to get published
- a collection of serialised novels
- a website with RSS feeds, sub-divided by each story with its own feed
- available worldwide
- released monthly in collected book format.
Will Seizure read my manuscript?
Sure thing. We don't have a set turnaround time and we don't make promises. But send the first 10,000 words to seizure@xou.com.au and we'll go from there. Don’t send a blurb, don’t send a synopsis, we want to feel the story for ourselves.
What is Seizure interested in?
We're interested in well-paced interesting stories that are appropriate for serialization. Genre-pieces are great, but genre-benders and breakers are even better. We also have a penchant for language. While we welcome debut and published authors, our love of words and the pleasure of reading is of the utmost importance.
Do you accept short stories?
Yes! While the focus of Seizure will be long-form fiction, we enjoy a good short story.
What if my story has been published elsewhere?
Well, in that case you should be proud. Unfortunately, this will most likely cause a licensing clash so it's best to avoid it. If you think you're safe and still want to submit your work, and we accept it, we'll ask for copies of documentation you've previously signed to see if it's possible.
How long has Seizure been going for?
Seizure was officially launched in September 2009 after an initial beta period that lasted for the six months prior.
Why was Seizure started?
There are many places for authors to have their work published, numerous writers anthologies and literary journals, but nowhere for was there an avenue to release a longer work. Seizure was created to give an opportunity for new, or struggling, authors to use the serialized format to build an audience that will then be released as a finished work. It is so hard to get your work known, and quite crushing to work alone, we hope Seizure can develop to a fully operation platform that can introduce and establish new authors.
